About Cross Country Trains
Cross Country is a Train Operating Company of the UK owned by the Arriva Group.
Cross Country Trains have the most extensive rail network franchise in the UK, stretching from Aberdeen to Penzance, and from Stansted to Cardiff and provide express and long distance rail services between many major towns and cities outside London.
Many journeys with CrossCountry Trains include a change at Birmingham New Street station which can, at busy times, be tricky, especially if you're travelling with children, cycles or heavy luggage.
While for some journeys changing trains at Birmingham New Street is unavoidable, for others there are easier, more convenient station options. These are Wolverhampton, Cheltenham Spa, Derby and Leamington Spa.
In some cases you will be able to change trains without having to switch platforms, making your journey even smoother. For example, if you're travelling from Newcastle to Cardiff Central, and don't want to change at Birmingham New Street, you can change at Derby instead.
These stations all offer the facilities you say are important - waiting rooms, toilets and refreshments and staff ready to help you with connections and other journey information.
Please note that if you have booked journey assistance through our JourneyCare service, you are advised to travel as indicated on your schedule and tickets.
Cross Country Trains Airport Train Connections
Cross Country Trains provide rail airport connections across the UK including rail services to and from Birmingham International, Southampton Airport Parkway, Manchester Airport and London Stansted.
Cross Country Trains also run direct services to Southampton and other destinations with ferry ports nearby.
