FIRST TRANSPENNINE EXPRESS TRAINS operates inter-city train services across the North of England, from the East Coast to the Lake District, from the North East to Yorkshire, and across Lancashire to Merseyside.

Major towns and cities served by TransPennine Express include Newcastle, Middlesbrough, York, Scarborough, Hull, Leeds, Huddersfield, Doncaster, Sheffield, Preston, Manchester, Manchester International Airport and Liverpool.

TransPennine Express is one of the few train operating companies in the United Kingdom running 24 hours a day, including through New Years Eve night. For example, trains run between York and Manchester Airport at least every three hours every night of the week.

First TransPennine Express offers a wide range of tickets - single, return, off peak, advance purchase and season for both First and Standard Class customers. There are ticket options to suit all types of traveller and all are able to purchased online with Rail Saver.

First TransPennine Express is a joint operation between First Group and Keolis and operates regular regional services in the north, including services linking the west and east coasts of England across the Pennines

First TransPennine Express also operates services from Blackpool, Barrow-in-Furness and Windermere to Preston, Bolton, Manchester and Manchester Airport; and from Glasgow and Edinburgh to Carlisle, Penrith, Oxenholme (for the Lake District), Lancaster, Preston, Bolton and Manchester.

Luggage and storage

First TransPennine Express trains have standard storage facilities for luggage in addition to a dedicated area for transporting up to two bicycles. Space can be reserved in advance by contacting the train operator directly.

Catering is available on core routes including Manchester Picadilly to York, Doncaster and Preston from 0700 - 1900 Monday to Friday, and on all Scottish services (Manchester Picadilly to Glasgow and Edinburgh) between 0700 - 1900.
